Case Study
Client: Revolution Driving Tuition (Sheffield, UK)
Contact: Laura Waltho
Requirements: The Full Shebang (Logo, branding, print work, vehicle graphics, website, blog, promotion)
Revolution Driving Tuition is the driving instruction business of female driving instructor Laura Waltho. (Who also happens to be my fiancée)
When Laura qualified as a driving instructor she decided to set up her own driving tuition business. This meant her whole company image and branding had to be developed from scratch. With a primary market of students aged between 18 and 25, a low-fi approach to the style of Revolution Driving Tuition was planned. An impactful collection of typefaces and a heavy background to the logo ensured its prominence when displayed as part of the vehicle livery. The project then moved on to the development of business cards, leaflets, posters and driving manuals, all continuing the style of the Revolution brand with hardcore blacks and reds and plenty of paper textures.
One key feature of the website was its need to rank highly for local driving instructor results in the main search engines, therefore the Revolution Driving Tuition website was built tightly around a collection of core keywords and its content optimised to naturally include the relevant terms and wordings.
The overall design of the site also continued the low-fi theme, with heavy use of paper textures to give a collage effect. A close attention to details was given with subtle features such as driving diagrams, learner driver badges and a driving license as part of the page background to really link the site into the nature of the business.
To maximise the visibility of the site a Wordpress blog was added, and a collection of simple posts created to help learners not only in Sheffield, but nationally across the country. This strategy helped develop a collection of valuable inbound links and set Revolution up as a source of expertise. The website soon gained good Google ranking and placements, and has now achieved Google’s sought after 'site links' in their index.
Overall, the project has proved highly successful in developing Laura’s business and brand, with her now being solidly booked up and reaching a stage where she’s ready to take on additional members of staff.
"The designs have really helped give a professional appearance to my business. I’m constantly gaining new clients through the website, who comment on how awesome it looks, how easy to use it is, and what useful information it presents."
